Intervention Specialist
CurrentStudent Teacher
As a student teacher at Fairfax Elementary School I have many responsibilities. I am currently working in a Structured Language Unit working with multiple children, grades 2-4, who are on the spectrum. So far in my experience I have created several behavior management plans, co-taught with my cooperating teacher who is an Intervention Specialist and with multiple General Education teachers as well. I am in the process of creating and teaching my own lessons to the children and in the transition of taking over the classroom and full classroom responsibilities for the remainder of my student teaching internship. I will also co-teach math lessons in a second grade General Education classroom where four of my students receive inclusion math instruction. I am also in the process of completing the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) where I have chosen a focus student and I am creating lesson plans based off of two of his learning targets on his IEP that will be taught to him individually. In this experience I have worked greatly with the extended standards which is what all our lesson and our students IEP goals are based off of.
Lead Counselor At The Summer Treatment Program
Over the summers of 2012 and 2013 I was a Lead Counselor at Cleveland Clinic's Summer Treatment program for children ages 6-14 who have ADHD. This job entitled me to create and manage behavior plans, create and teach social skills lessons, and work closely with the children's families, Doctors and various medical professionals. Along with this job I also coached different sports and taught swimming lessons with a team of counselors to the children who attended the camp. As a lead counselor I was the head of my children's age group, which was 8 years old during the second year I was involved with the program, and I was responsible for 10 children and 4 counselors.
Teachers Aid
During my time at the Child Development Center I was a teachers assistant in the toddler room (ages 1-3). It was my job to feed, change, play, and assist in early education teaching to the children in my classroom. Some of the responsibilities of my job would be to do things such as read stories, work on social skills, behavior management, arts and crafts, assist in instruction, and keep the environment clean and safe for all the children.
Lifeguard And Swim Instructor
For several years of my life I spent my summers as a Lifeguard at the Highland Heights City Pool. Along with Lifeguarding I also instructed swimming lessons, public and private, to children of various ages in the community. This job entitled me to be certified as a Lifeguard, and to be certified in CPR, First Aid and AED.
