Global Account Coordinator- H.J. Heinz Account
Through dedication and an eagerness to work directly on an Agency Account Team, I was able to advance to the Client Service Department at Leo Burnett where I supported the H.J. Heinz Account Team as the Global Account Coordinator. In this role, I was the key liaison between our International offices, our client and our creative team in Chicago. I oversaw a wide variety of projects and assisted in launching several new Heinz products including E-Z Squirt “Green” ketchup, Boston Market Gravy, Jack Daniel’s Grilling Sauces and Yoshida’s Asian Cooking Sauces. I participated in developing the brand strategies for these new products and I assisted in writing the creative briefs. I was also managed and tracked all of our client’s budgets.
Broadcast Business Coordinator- Mc Donalds, Maytag And Oldsmobile Accounts
While I greatly enjoyed working in the Hospitality Industry and was successful as a Sales Manager, my heart really lied in Advertising. In August of 1997, I began employment at Leo Burnett Company in Chicago—my ultimate dream. I started my career there as a Broadcast Business Coordinator on the McDonald’s Account where I worked with Talent Agents to ensure proper payment to on screen talent in our commercials. I worked closely with our Legal department and screened commercials prior to on air release- our Department was basically the last check and balance before the commercial was aired to ensure all proper guidelines were adhered to. I worked in the Broadcast Business Department for a year and a half before I advanced to a new position within the Agency as a Global Account Coordinator on the HJ Heinz Ketchup Account. As the Heinz Account Coordinator, I was one of the key liasons beween our creative team in Chicago and the Leo Burnett International offices in Venezuela, UK and Canada. I assisted in determining brand stratgies and writing creative briefs for new product launches.
Group Sales Manager
As a Group Sales Manager, I negotiated room rates for groups in the Corporate, Social and University Markets. I collaborated with the Catering, Banquet and Reservations departments to ensure awesomeness. I also collaborated with our National Sales office in the design and development of the Hotel’s Marketing Plan. I consider the Omni Orrington Hotel to be my first “real job” and I was fortunate to be able to work with so many different types of groups. I developed a great portion of my “people skills” thru this job because I worked with so many different types of clientele- from Brides to Airline Executives. I also learned how to work with the other departments in the hotel to provide the best experience for our guests in order to ensure their return.Group Sales Manager, August 1996 - July 1997• Negotiated group room block rates for national and downtown Chicago corporate markets; responsible in part for social and university markets• Interacted with Catering, Banquet and Reservations departments in capturing group sales • Participated in the design and development of the hotel marketing plan• Responsible for tracking and analyzing local and national accounts for room night production and revenue
Sales Associate- Womens Floor
The Gap was one of my favorite jobs of all time. I was having a very hard time finding a job in Advertising, which is what I went to college for and had my degree in. There was a major recession going on and jobs, in general, were scarce. I wanted to be noticed and make connections in the business world, so I took it upon myself to go back to what I knew best- Retail and Fashion. Instead of looking at my local mall, I opted to go to the big city instead—closer to the action of the business world! I worked at the Gap on Michigan Avenue for 1 year while I looked for jobs in Advertising. I was selected as the Accessories Expert by Upper Management and trained our employees on the current trends in jewelry and accessories for the upcoming seasons. I was also a regular writer for our Flagship store’s monthly newsletter, Michigan Avenews. I was recognized as one of the top sales performers in our region on a consistent basis. Even though I excelled in Retail Sales, I still wanted to pursue my dream of having a career in Advertising. The job market was still not great, so I opened my job search to Sales Careers as well.
Sales Associate
I love fashion and always have. In high school I had the privilege to work for one of the coolest retailers in women's fashion, the Limited. I was a Sales Associate there during my entire Senior year of high school- after school, on weekends and throughout the entire summer until I went off to college.
Sales Associate
When I was about 15 years old, I got my first job at Baskin Robbins, which was right across the street from where we lived. My mom would watch me walk to work and walk home every shift (and bring her a pint of Pralines and Cream ice cream!) My job responsibilities there included not only scooping ice cream, but also decorating cakes and specialty items. A big responsibility was being the sole person responsible for opening and closing the store. I worked weekends as well as after school until I began my next job at the Limited.
