 Under the capacity of head of roads construction at Dubai Municipality, I was engaged in research in the same way as faculty members. For example, I researched, developed and deployed techniques to structure and monitor the project communication management system and the project administration management system. All of which were systematically controlled by KPI systems to ensure the effective and efficient performance of road projects in Dubai Municipality. I was also personally leading the research related to the improvement of the PM lifecycle of the projects, where all consultants and contractors involved at the time were providing real-time and primary data for analysis through the modelling techniques available.  During same period as well, I served as a senior PM, I oversaw all phases of project execution; approved engineering/design changes, troubleshot and resolved complex technical problems, consistently meeting project deadlines and highest possible quality standards. All the while ensuring the comprehension and assimilation of contractual obligations, rights, and scope of work. This is very relevant to BUiD PM courses.  I was a key committee member in charge of the development of ‘Design Manual for Roads in Dubai’, where extensive research was commissioned to establish the best road design criteria for hot climates. This manual was the first in the region, and is still in operation. Many countries are benchmarking their design criteria according to its content. This is very relevant to the inquiry and application of what we teach our students at BUiD to do in their research journey to add originality and sustainability to the knowledge they forge. As the leader of all road construction in Dubai, I trained, motivated, and offered support for a team tasked with managing unprecedented infrastructure developments in Dubai.
