About Ashley Lovell

Over the last six years I have had diverse experiences working on international projects in health, education, and economic development. My passion is using contextual data collection and management methods to improve planning, outcomes, and support of development projects for their beneficiaries.I have an MA in Economics from UNLV and a BA in Economics and Peace Studies from Chapman University, as well as six years of experience in design, implementation, and evaluation of development projects in East and West Africa.

High School Health Club: During the 2015-2016 school year, co-led the high school’s health club. 160 students were involved in four aspects of the club: peer-to-peer education, community conversation, orphan and vulnerable children support, and the HIV/AIDS club. -Secondary Projects-Malaria Awareness Campaign – Distributed insecticide treated bed nets at the health center and city center, conveyed messages on malaria transmission and proper bed net use to over 300 families.Gender Club – Organized and co-facilitated two clubs entirely in Amharic. Open to female students only, topics covered included reproductive health, STDs, leadership skills, goal setting, culturally-appropriate negotiation techniques for oppressive situations, and team-building exercises. These students went on to attend camp GLOWs and are continuing and expanding gender club at the high school entirely on their own, working with four clubs to reach over 100 students in this year.
