Managed the editorial and production processes of a quarterly professional medical journal including: brainstorming and pursuing story ideas, coordinating manuscript and art submissions, editing/proofreading submitted manuscripts, layout and art production, collaborating with writers from all backgrounds, technical support, press submissions, website creation, marketing and advertising support, and using Google Analytics to drive internet views. My experience in publishing and big picture thinking allowed me to reduce the costs from $130K/issue to $30K/issue and double our outreach.

The Lancaster County PArtners for Gifted Education (LC PAGE) is a volunteer, nonprofit group of parents, school staff, and students who work to raise awareness of gifted students' educational needs and parenting challenges. We continue to advocate for better gifted education opportunities in school districts throughout Lancaster County, PA.

Acquired and edited books from manuscript to bound books in the lifestyle categories including self-help, health, home-improvement, parenting, and children's. Received critical acclaim for editorial quality - including a starred review in PW and an ALA Best Book for Young Readers. Responsible for estimating and meeting P&Ls for each book where I developed a reputation for bringing books in on-time and under-budget. Wrote and edited catalog copy and marketing sell sheets. Supported new and established authors, including some celebrities. Worked effectively with a team that included authors, designers, printers, marketing, and management.

Participated in story sessions for education magazines including the New York Times Upfront. Coordinated the editorial production for multiple magazines in high-stress, new environment, keeping writers, editors, and designers on-time and on-target. Established and maintained micro deadlines for art, edit, and freelance staff. Provided technical support and training for Classroom Magazine division. Created and formatted web content for multiple magazines.
