Office Associate/Winter Sports Sales
Buckeye Sports Center
Buckeye Sports Center
The position offered to me by Buckeye Sports Center was a part time seasonal sales position. Clinics were held 2-3 times a week in order to keep all staff informed and up to date on the brands we carried and, the latest technologies. Assisting customers meant assessing their ability by asking a series of snow sport questions. I would then provide the customer with the appropriate ski/snowboarding equipment based on their ability and future desires, explaining the benefits of each piece of equipment. Before the season ended, I was offered a full time year round office administrative position which I very happily accepted! I still filled in on the sales floor during the winter, while I familiarized myself with my new duties and expectations. Eventually I became the manager of our inventory company wide, including a total of 5 stores. I received products into our computer system, transferred the merchandise to the appropriate store where it was then received. Smaller tasks included posting bills, answering the phone, handling customer special orders while keeping track of account receivables, and handling bi-weekly bank deposits. I was placed in charge of soft-goods warranties speaking with vendors on behalf of customers with clothing warranty issues.I handled the creation of different snow apparel outfits for the mannequins, and ensured clothing displays were changed throughout the season. Occasionally I filled in at our resort stores; and I also worked a few demo days outside at our local resorts. I gave my boss a few months notice after deciding to move; allowing them plenty of time to find a suitable replacement. I spent a few weeks working with my replacement and just finished training her. Working for Buckeye Sports Center was a very positive experience that helped me to attain excellent customer service skills, and snow sports merchandising knowledge I will continue to carry with me to my next position.
