About Al Sargent

I love software. Started coding at age 10. At 12, wrote my first game. At 13, got sent to the principal's office for skipping class to code. Decades later I feel fortunate to be working in the field I love, that's shaped our modern world, and where I've had some level of impact.Such as helping to create the world's first software-testing cloud, Sauce Labs; advance market-changing open source technologies such as InfluxDB, Redis, and Selenium; and building new market categories (cloud testing, time-series databases, app performance monitoring). Now at Marqo, I love the craft of marketing: Helping technologists -- such devs and data scientists -- understand how they can use software to achieve their goals. Bridging the gap between engineering, marketing, and sales. Creating stories that are resonant yet grounded in reality. And growing teams of like-minded professionals to do the same.
