As a Case Manager for first Safe Outdoor Space my duties have included engaging with residents who stayat our shelter short-term or long-term. At times I have done outreach in the communities surrounding ornear our shelter. My main duties are but not limited to help adult individuals and couples with obtainingall vital documentation (ID, DL, BC, SSC, etc.), obtaining income (SSI, SSDI, Wages, etc.), obtainingbenefits (AND, SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.), help connect to health resources (Recovery, PhysicalHealth, Mental Health, Therapy, etc.), and finally help them get into and maintain housing (Transitional,Permanent, Subsidy, Voucher, Assisted Living, etc.)

I assist at a “recovery center” to provide a space to rest and recover for persons experiencing homelessness and COVID-like symptoms, or who have confirmed COVID-19 infection, and/or other symptoms of potentially communicable diseases. This project is designed to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases among this vulnerable population by identifying sheltered and unsheltered individuals with symptoms and providing a space to safely recover. The recovery center will be overseen by the Denver Metro Social Services Director and supported by remote medical and behavioral health consultants.
