This position is responsible for leading the Grid Project Development team within the Grid Portfolio Management area and is accountable for the development for projects and programmes that deliver value to our customers and community. This position is responsible for leading a team of engineering and non-engineering professionals accountable for defining, testing and justifying recommended technical (network or non-network) solutions to network constraints &/or opportunities as per the corporate strategy. Ultimately, this culminates in the development of an investment proposal (business case) which addresses all strategic, financial, technical, market and regulatory considerations ensuring the business makes informed, documented investment decisions thus enacting Western Power’s Corporate Strategy.

This position is accountable for leading and developing a team of professionals responsible for the optimal delivery of contracts of significant value/volume, and complexity that form part of Western Power’s Network initiated projects and programs. This role is critical to ensuring team members are clear on expectations and are accountable for contract delivery that has a direct impact on Western Power’s business operations and/or customer outcomes.This team is responsible for the management of contracts to ensure all obligations and deliverables are achieved and the requirements of Western Power’s Contract Management Framework are met. This team has a direct impact on Western Power’s business operations and/or Customer outcomes by being responsible for the commercial, schedule and risk of contract(s) delivery.This position provides technical leadership and is critical to ensuring clear expectations and accountabilities are set up front with all parties to ensure successful delivery outcomes.

Contract administration duties in accordance with relevant general conditions of the contract, namely AS4000 and AS4906Tender evaluation, negotiation and claims assessmentManagement of project and construction site as Principal/Superintendent's representative Site inspections, surveillance and reporting contractor compliance with the agreed contractReporting of progress, quality and HSE performance, contractor metrics and project risksFacilitate in the resolution of contractors RFIs

Provide civil structural design, checking and approval of drawings in a multi-discipline team of electrical engineers, civil structural designers and drafters for assets in high voltage substationsAddress technical queries raised by construction crews in addressing drawing related issues and constructibility issues

Assess and review technical specification for the procurement of wooden polesProvide technical support to asset strategy engineers on dealing with technical regulator (EnergySafety) Monitor performance of newly adopted wood pole reinforcing technology and review of reinforcement processes and procedures

Provide technical advice to external stakeholders by conducting clearance calculation and easement breach on commercial and residential development in proximity to transmission lines Assist senior engineers in design of transmission lines using PLS-CAD and procurement of overhead structures and accessories

Provide technical advice and consultation to team on the management of structural assets and address technical queries raised by internal and external stakeholders
