Alex is a seasoned hospitality professional with a passion in both FinTech and Product fields.After gaining enough experience in the different roles at Carleton University, Alex gathered the resources they had to attempt to move with nothing but a backpackers bag to the United Kingdom. After arriving in London, United Kingdom Alex joined the team at Good Hotel London as a Front Office Receptionist during the launch period of the hotel. With the experience previously gained, Alex was able to provide feedback and suggestions for standard operating procedures. While the work holiday visa that was only valid for two years, in that time Alex rose from a junior position to the position of Assistant to the Revenue Manger - Group Reservations. At the beginning of this position, Good Hotel London switched to a new Property Management Software (PMS), which at this time Alex was responsible to review all outstanding accounts and guest reservation information was correctly imported, in addition to ensuring all previous integrations still functioned after the switch.In the last months of the UK work visa, Alex took the position of interim Revenue Manager and assisted in training the incoming Revenue Manager in the PMS and any relevant market research. In the last month in London, Alex was offered a job in Prague, Czech Republic with the PMS SaaS that was being used by Good Hotel, Mews. With a job offer in hand, Alex then applied for a second work holiday visa to the Czech Republic and joined the Product team at Mews as a Marketplace Specialist. As Marketplace Specialist at Mews, Alex has a door opened and was gained experience on being a cross-functional Product team. During this time Mews launched the beginnings of the Mews Marketplace, an app store for their PMS to allow hoteliers to add a new integration as simply as adding an app on their mobile device. As part of the team, Alex assisted in showing opportunities to possible connections to have them build a connection to the Mews REST API. Though on the beginning of their journey, Alex provided on boarding support to both developers and other stakeholders in the connection in regards to the API, completing once the connection to the Mews production environment was stable and certified. After this period, both account management and support was provided to integration partners. This included building a relationship with both developers and business development teams for both teams.
