The Director of Membership and Advocacy is responsible for growing, knitting, and supporting members to advance youth justice reform. In this role, the Director oversees the strategic growth and mobilization of Network members to advance state policies furthering youth justice reform. The Director develops programming to engage members in state policy advocacy including directing in-house technical assistance, strategy support, and coordinating peer learning opportunities.

Maintains close contact with NJJN's growing membership body of 43 state-based organizations. Assists states with legislative campaigns, organizational development, and strategic planning.Provides policy analysis, fiscal analysis, communications, and organizational development for state members. Manages member needs and is responsible for developing appropriate timelines for completion of technical assistance projects and evaluates the effectiveness of technical assistance provided by NJJN.Facilities peer-to-peer mentoring.Identifies opportunities for movement building.

Charleston, West Virginia Area

Responsible for building support for the Center’s fiscal and economic policy proposals.Acted as legislative liaison presenting Center's research and testimony on public policy priorities.Worked to actively engage public in economic policy discussions with a particular focus on vulnerable families and diverse communities.Coordinated Center's social media and online engagement.Represented Our Children, Our Future campaign.Planned education events.Successfully led Raise the Wage WV to increase state minimum wage.

Managed multi-issue lobbying efforts targeting local, state, and national officials with the goal of promoting civil liberties and human rights for West Virginians.Designed e-mail marketing campaigns, website development, press outreach, and member communication efforts for ACLU of WV.Developed advertisements and publications to enhance public education campaigns.Organized strategic outreach initiatives throughout West Virginia communities to increase membership.Oversaw development and sustainability of ACLU of WV branch chapters and student clubs.

Assisted in implementing The Center for Juvenile Justice Reform's Crossover Youth Practice Model through managing Philadelphia site's data collection and database development. Worked with site team to develop and implement agency protocol for Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare Shared Case Responsibility Policy as it pertains to Title IV-E funding. Completed 3 year strategic plan for Juvenile Justice Department.Applied for national grants and reviewed requests for proposals at the county level.Actively engaged and presented policies and protocols in stakeholder meetings.

Las Cruces, New Mexico Area

Responsible for intake and case management of constituent service claims covering federal agencies ranging from Immigration and Custom Enforcement to Social Security Administration. Most frequent agency claims involved Veteran’s Affairs, USCIS, and Social Security Administration.Held an active caseload of 30-40 cases per month. Completed health care policy research around the implementation of The Affordable Care Act.Helped facilitate Senate hearing regarding wilderness conservation.
