During my completion of an Honors Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Animation Studies, my academic journey has been marked by rigorous research and a commitment to education. Upon graduating I received the Undergraduate Research Scholar Designation (URSD) award for the years of research I completed in the HYOO lab looking at how specific monoterpenes can enhance plant defense against pathogen attack, and submitted part of my written research to the Range: Undergraduate Research Journal. As an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, I facilitated student learning in Principles of Biology I labs, emphasizing antimicrobial discovery and promoting scientific literacy. My leadership extended beyond the classroom, where I championed a collaborative environment and empowered peers in the Food Court Department at Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres, ensuring operational excellence and team development.I am very passionate about art and science, finding that these two fields often complement one another and push each other to new heights. Through art I am able to take complex scientific topics and break it down visually, allowing for better understanding and communication of these topics. While taking my first genetics course, art became a big part of how I understood the beauty and complexity of this amazing field, and it inspired me to take several other genetics courses: Human Evolutionary Genetics, and Genomics and Bioinformatics. In these courses I learned Python, GoogleColab, BLAST, Integrative Genomics Viewer (IGV), and population genetics. I am eager to put the skills I have to use and to gain new ones along the way. I am someone who is deeply fascinated with learning anything and everything I can.
