Augustana College Edge Center

The International Family Therapy Association (IFTA) was founded in 1987 at the end of the East-West Family Therapy Bridging Conference in Prague. Therapists at the Conference were so excited about the magnificent opportunities for face-to-face sharing of ideas, accelerated learning, and networking with colleagues and leaders in the field of family therapy from various parts of the globe, they spontaneously agreed to hold another congress the next year. So began the World Family Therapy Congresses and the birth of IFTA.As an Event Planner for the IFTA Congress in Malaga, Spain and Bangkok, Thailand, I assisted in the planning and execution of logistics and registration for the annual IFTA Conference hosted for family therapist professionals world wide. I was the Lead Event Planner for the 2018 Congress in Bangkok, Thailand and the 2019 Congress in Aberdeen, Scotland. Throughout my internship I was able to provide exceptional customer service to attendee from all around the world, learn how to read and understand hotel contracts as well as manage a registration system with attendee data. I managed the program agenda and worked with a graphic designer to create and complete the Congress Program, Official Book of Abstracts as well as various marketing material sent throughout the year. I was able to travel onsite to execute the annual conference.

As an student worker in the Admissions Office, it is important to represent Augustana College in a professional manner by communicating effectively with prospective students and maintaining datasheets on visits. I assist the Manager of Campus Experience with tasks including, but not limited to, scheduling campus visits and creating individual schedules for prospective students. It was my goal to share my knowledge and experience at Augustana College to every prospective student who visited the campus so that they could feel the sense of community and acceptance I felt during my time at Augustana. I took potential students on personal campus tours as well as group tours on large visit days.

At the start of every school year, teams participating in the NSAC receive a case study outlining a problem that is faced by a national company. Recent client companies have included Ocean Spray, Tai Pei, Snapple, Pizza Hut. The ADs group then spends fall and winter terms conducting research (both primary and secondary) and formulating an advertising plan to address the company's needs.During spring term, the ADs team finalizes the advertising plan and formalizes it as a plans book that is submitted to a panel of judges. The team then travels to make an in-person presentation to the judges as part of a district competition. In my various roles over my participation in Advertising Developers, I was able to recruit and educate new members, lead meeting discussions and brainstorming sessions on campaign research, goals, opportunities, strengths, and tactics, while maintaining a campaign timeline.

As a Creative Strategies Summer Intern I was able to work with team of students to update and develop a universal branding image for the Augustana Entrepreneurial Center. Some of the projects included creating signage for organizations in the EDGE Center and updated promotional display cases in order to strengthen a universal brand image.
