About Alyssa Olsen

As an experienced arts administrator as well as a visual artist/maker, gallery director, and theater production/stage manager - I know and love the arts and culture industry from both sides of the curtain. With a diverse set of skills - ranging from wielding electric drill bits to painting stage sets to skilled proficiency in industry-standard art and design software, various CRM systems, and website maintenance - I know the importance of having the right tools for the job (figuratively and literally). My undergraduate degree in Interior Design with a minor in Studio Art provided me with a foundation in spatial design, project management, graphic design, and visual art in both traditional and digital media. In my spare time, I create my own art (acrylic paint and graphite putty are my go-to traditional media), freelance as a Stage Manager and Scenic/Prop Artist, and pick up new skills and hobbies (embroidery is my latest!). My current role at Vaunix, a small-but-mighty electrical engineering company, may seem like a complete 180 from my path so far. But it's surprising how much similarity there is between administrating the arts and administrating a tech company! In addition, I am working on ways to integrate my passion and experience in the arts and in non-profits into my career at Vaunix, as well as outside of the office.
