As a rising third-year Human Biology and Society major, I am seeking to integrate myself into internships and community research opportunities that can expand my knowledge about holistic healing and create tangible changes to achieve medical equity. While learning about medicine is exciting, I aim to understand how science and medicine can help the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in our society through community outreach, engagement, and health education.Within this past year, I began volunteering with the UCLA Mobile Clinic Project as a caseworker to help create a safe and non-judgemental environment for the unhoused community of West LA to seek medical and social services. Through the collective efforts of the caseworking class and my position as the Adovcacy member, I was able to successfully create social media campaigns that highlighted client narratives and stories to help inspire local and legislative change within the LA area. I have a desire to learn from all altitudes and sectors of life with a dedication to use what I learn and pass it along for the betterment of others while striving to become more medically and socially aware of the systemic barriers that inhibit medical access. To hone in on this, I have participated in trauma informed care seminars, embraced advocacy through involvement in city hall propositions, and became well versed in making dens information digestible through social media skills. My involvement in social medical change at UCLA has honed in on my abilities to effectively communicate and collaborate with others under the same goal.Besides my passion for health equity and policy, I also love to read, play guitar, and indulge in pottery wheel classes to fuel myself creativley.   • Providing holistic medical and social care to the homeless population of West Hollywood • Advocating for homeless equity and justice through interviews with 10+ community members to destigmatize homelessness stereotypes • Managing Sponsor a Home project that raised $3,000 in the organization to help supply food, blankets, and hygiene kits for the homeless community • Collecting data on 100+ homeless members to help facilitate LA’s Count the Homeless census initiative
