For the last 6 years at Illinois State University, I have engaged in interdisciplinary work—attempting to bridge the fields of rhetoric, technical communication, and instructional design. I am particularly interested in how instructional designers and subject matter experts can advocate for learners together by designing more rhetorically effective, equitable, and accessible deliverables and courses. This work is evident in my Instructional Designer role at the Center for Integrated Professional Development, where I:-design courses for fully online Master's programs at ISU-collaborate with faculty subject matter experts-create process documentation to streamline our course development process -facilitate pedagogical training workshops and conduct individual consultations for faculty This work is also evident in my previous role as a graduate instructor, where I have:-taught 14 composition and technical communication courses with up to 23 students each-designed both online and in-person courses-created course-level and module-level learning objectives-scaffolded lesson plans and activities-prioritized community-based and advocacy-driven assessment methods
