Library Assistant Manager

Managed team of 10 staff and oversaw Marine base library services and 50,000-item collection during 75 weekly operating hours under supervision of and during absence of Supervisory Librarian. Guided staff in providing MCCS World Class Customer Service as we assisted patrons in finding and borrowing materials, answering reference questions, using computers and electronic equipment, and using online resources. Led weekly staff meetings and supervised training of new staff as well as trained current staff on new resources and equipment. Purchased, catalogued, and processed materials based on assessment of patron needs. Planned and hosted weekly, monthly, and annual events for military families ranging from attendance of less than 5 to more than 200. Accomplishments:• Grew a multicultural library team through collaboration, hiring, training, performance reviews, and daily encouragement and coaching• Headed library staff efforts during annual summer reading program with over 300 participants• Created library Facebook page and grew following to over 100 members in 6 months• Collaborated with marketing department for all promotional efforts and created copy and graphics for library events and services, including revamp of the MCCS webpage• Wrote and designed library brochures and patron guides for eResources• Established partnerships with community groups, including homeschooling families, base preschool, and a local author• Achieved patron satisfaction while working in a multi-cultural and multilingual environment with staff, MCCS employees, base patrons, and local Japanese community• Developed and refined Standard Operating Procedure documentation for regular library tasks
