Independently offering peer support services for recovery from substances and mental health support

Encourage and motivate clients in their own recovery through personal experience. Set an example of hope to clients that recovery is possible. Participate in treatment team collaboration to help build relationships between client and providers for a more successful treatment outcome. Assist clients in goal setting and planning. Seek out opportunities in continuing training and education. Facilitate and organize a peer run substance use group on a virtual platform. Support clients in the community with seeking out effective support groups or alternative means to be a part of a “community”. Outsource clients with external referrals to other organizations with specific types of supports such as “parent peer supports” or “family peer supports”. Facilitate community peer groups that are lead by peers.
