Currently Head of Access, Equality and Inclusion and formerly Widening Access Manager, I was the FOCUS West Programme Officer for Strathclyde 2010-2021 and managed with overall management responsibility for the S2, S3 and S4 elements of FOCUS West from 2010-2021. My currently role has strategic oversight and direction of Equality and Diversity and Widening Access within the university. Since 2017 I have been the WA lead on Articulation and am module leader for the Masters level Widening Access module delivered by the School of Education. Between 2021 and 2023 I was Director of FOCUS West.My BackgroundAfter completing a PGCE in Secondary Education in 1996, I taught undergraduate and adult education whilst completing my MLitt (2001), after which I worked in project management and human resources in the private sector until joining the Summer Academy@Strathclyde team. During my time with the university I have worked on the acquisition, development, management and evaluation of a broad range of educational projects for young people aged 3-18. I have delivered CPD for teaching staff both nationally and internationally and co-taught an elective module for B.Ed. students on 'Challenge in Learning'. I have presented papers on the theme of Widening Access at a number of international conferences and have worked collaboratively with European partner institutions to share best practice.
