My clinical practicum was focused in the hematology department. I became proficient in the Mini Vidas, VerifyNow, TEG analyzers, Beckman Coulter UniCel DxH Analyzer and Beckman Coulter ACL Coagulation Analyzer. I performed daily and weekly maintenance as well as became proficient in reading differentials. In addition I studied a variety of white blood cells and red blood cells and learned how to identify ALL, CLL, and Sickle Cell patients.

As a student microbiologist, I became proficient in working a variety of benches. These benches included culturing, QC, urines, respiratory/stools, blood cultures and molecular testing. I was trained in using HSV molecular analyzers and the Panther. I became proficient in understanding and performing daily maintenance on the VIDAS instruments and BACTEC analyzers.

In addition I rotated through the Urinalysis bench, manual testing bench, and special chemistry bench.
