Currently, I am helping others as an organizational development and management consultant specializing in leadership coaching, team development, and strategic planning for companies and organizations. I love using my experience and training as a board-certified coach to guide leaders and teams in becoming more self-aware, which ultimately leads to being more effective and more productive. We most often use the Enneagram to better understand the nine different but connected types of people, and the habitual, predictable patterns with which they relate to themselves, others and the world. I also harness my listening powers from years of being a licensed therapist to gather information from a variety of stakeholders to help clients build and implement their strategic plans, or roadmaps, for future growth and success.

I spent 12 years with this nonprofit both providing direct services to vulnerable populations and honing my management and organizational skills in multiple leadership positions. I was responsible for setting strategic direction of departments, establishing and implementing program policies for service delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with funders, donors, volunteers and community partners. From 24/7 operations, to grant writing, to learning how to lead, this was really where I cut my teeth and wrestled with hard decisions impacting people.

Having always wanted to hang my own shingle, I opened my own small business providing individual therapy and mental health training as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). While I learned a lot about running a small business – from taxes and accounting to marketing and social media – and about working with the less-vulnerable, “worried well” population, I also learned that I missed being a part of a team and wanted to apply what I knew about human behavior to people and teams in workplaces and organizations.

This contract work involving furry friends warmed my heart and helped at-risk kids and adults with modifying unhealthy behaviors, managing anger and increasing empathy. So much good came from the interactions with the volunteers – both two and four-legged – and the kids.

Provided supportive services to students through the Counseling & Wellness Center. Whether through personality assessments, wellness programming, or individual and small group counseling, working with college students was invigorating and always unpredictable. Facilitating groups through the low-ropes course on campus might have been my favorite duty in this gig. Problem-solving, strengthening communication and learning to trust teammates in the great outdoors!
