Hi, I'm Amanda. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and recently returned after college in Walla Walla, WA and abroad. My studies and passions lie in community-based justice, horticulture, and health. I have conducted multiple ecological research projects, in Washington and Madagascar. In my studies, I participated in two semester-long immersive, interdisciplinary learning programs: a "Semester in the West" learning about community, ecology, and climate change in the arid west of the US, and "Madagascar: Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management" through the School of International Training. I have passions for political ecology, urban agriculture, and environmental health. Some of my proudest accomplishments include managing the greenhouse at Whitman College, presenting thesis research on the environmental political history of the forests of Madagascar, and being part of the creation of Gardening for Wellness classes at the Over60 Health Center in Berkeley.
