Greater Denver Area

Acted as the Project Manager in the preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for Ellsworth Air Force Base in Box Elder, South Dakota. Conducted research and prepared the EA as well as directed and assisted colleagues regarding other portions of the EA. Also communicated with the client of the progress of the document and keeping the project on budget. Prepared and outlined project scopes, including objectives, schedules, budgets, and project compliance for various work plans and projectsKey member of the assurance team for review of a sustainability report and the associated data for a global mining company. The report was a Level A report based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. Reviewed the processes associated with developing the report through interviews, review of documentation and other assurance activities. Conducted a detailed review of a sample of the data, including environmental, economic and social data. Assisted with providing the client with data review findings such that any identified issues could be corrected prior to publication of the report. Reviewed the text of the report and verified factual statements based on evidence produced by the company. Tracked all identified issues, corrections and evidence in a written log to allow for clear communication with the company contact. Worked with the lead assuror on the assurance statement and the management letter that provided the company with a more in depth understanding of the findings and recommendations resulting from the verification process.Assisted in the preparation for an ISO 14001 EMS audit for a manufacturing company. Reviewed procedures, policies, and plans to help the organization minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment as well as comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements. Made recommendations to the client for improvement.

Conducted multiple Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for various financial and commercial clients which have included extensive historical research to properly identify environmental concerns and preparation of reports using ASTM E-1527 as a guideline. Historical research included analyzing topographic maps, aerial photography, fire insurance maps, and city directoriesPrepared a Flood Emergency Response Plan (FERP) for a nationwide waste disposal services company due to the company’s location with a FEMA floodplain area. Evaluated local flood warning systems, communications, and response plans that were currently in place, evaluated potential flood threats and potential mitigation strategies. Developed the FERP which included emergency contacts, response actions, response team training and development recommendations, and post-flood remediation. Assisted in writing several Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans for multiple industries. SPCC plans are utilized to prevent and provide guidance following a release of petroleum products in order to minimize impacts to navigable waters. Evaluated the facilities’ oil-handling procdures, surface topography, and oil transfer procedures. Prepared findings and opinions to facility operators to reduce potential for a release of petroleum products.

Conducted numerous Phase II Environmental Site Assessments to evaluate the presence of petroleum products and hazardous materials from previous and current commercial operations. Activities included preparing health and safety plans, collecting soil samples from soil borings and installing temporary wells to collect groundwater samples followed by data analysis, and report preparation using ASTM E-1903 as a guidelineConducted numerous National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Screenings for a national telecommunications client which included evaluating project's area for threatened and endangered species, working with Native American Tribes and local governments as well as other state and Federal agencies, including the Fish and Wildlife Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, State Historic Preservation Offices, and Wyoming Game and Fish. Screenings also included evaluating sites with regards to the National Historic Preservation Act. Served as a liaison between the client and interested parties resolving conflicts. Oversaw and managed all NEPA screenings to ensure that projects stayed within the agreement for budget, schedule, and scope of work
