In my role, I collect fish using electrofishing techniques and ensure compliance with state and federal protocols for the euthanization, handling, and transportation of fish. Additionally, I perform PCR and molecular sequencing to further identify parasites. I am responsible for developing and managing all databases related to fish, parasites, tissue collection, and molecular data. I also train and supervise incoming volunteers in fish biology, laboratory bench work, molecular biology, and lab QAQC protocols.
