About Amanda Specht
I am currently entering my second year of the two-year Environmental Policy and Management Master's program at UC Davis. My educational background is in Biology and Environmental Policy. I have some experience working in the policy office for a non-profit organization called Marine Conservation Institute, advocating for policy around marine issues, specifically marine protected areas. However, most of my work experience is in animal care primarily as a zookeeper, a role I held in two different institutions for almost six years. I would like to transition to a new career working in wildlife and conservation management where I can apply some of my policy and animal care knowledge I have learned. I’m working towards my MS with potential specializations in conservation management and marine resource management. I’m currently working as a Recovery Biologist with USFWS as part of the Pathways internship program to get hands on experience working for a government agency. Long term, I’d like to continue working for the government.
