Conduct laboratory and classroom safety inspections in order to be compliant with Federal, State, and County regulations (FDEP, DOH, ect.). Perform stormwater systems monitoring for both pre-existing and new construction systems. Maintain compliance for the University’s Generic Permit for Discharge of Stormwater from Phase II Municipal Separate Storm Sewers Systems. Create and conduct a variety of safety and other educational trainings in both classroom and online environments. Respond to chemical and biological emergencies. Develop procedures for laboratory equipment and processes. Responsible for the management of hazardous chemical and biological waste that is generated around campus. Conduct a variety of risk assessments and enforcement efforts. Involved in campus-wide sustainability projects including outreach activities with students, faculty, and staff.

Managed several undergraduate students in both laboratory and field environments. Led a team of researchers to conduct environmental field studies in the Florida Keys. Research focused on ciguatera fish poisoning and developing a prediction model of the presence of the toxins in fish caught for human consumption in the Florida Keys. Multiple sampling and collection methods were used monthly, including: water sampling (nutrients, salinity, temperature, light penetration throughout the water column), fish, and algae collections.
