About Amanda Giles

I am passionate about helping others to reach their own potential. As a senior manager with extensive experience in training and education policy and design, and of leading leadership development delivery teams, I am a proven leadership practitioner with a wide array of management and administrative skills including: staff supervision and HR management; staff recruitment, assessment and development; organisational performance, risk, change and project management; event planning; training design, delivery, governance and quality assurance; and policy and process design and development. I have considerable experience in stakeholder management, partnership working and conflict resolution, often working with a wide group of interested parties from across the security, academic and private sectors. Whilst employed in various executive roles, I led teams of in excess of 100 military and civilian staff and managed annual budgets of up to £3.7M. Following a highly successful early career as an air traffic controller and airport manager, I moved through the realm of executive and headquarters roles to the arena of training and education management. With my practical leadership experience and sound academic grounding in leadership theory, gained through an MSc in Leadership Studies, I found my forte in education management and leadership development. After seven busy, successful and satisfying years working in Higher Education, my employer’s voluntary redundancy scheme afforded me the opportunity to seek new directions and challenges. Following a very enjoyable and rewarding six-month sabbatical, I was fortunate to find an extremely fulfilling new role working part-time with Norfolk Constabulary supporting the professional development of student police officers. At an exciting time for the Constabulary, in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University, we introduced degree-level apprenticeships for new student officers. I was proud to be part of this initiative. Having resigned from my role with Norfolk Constabulary in order to relocate to West Norfolk to be closer to my family, I am enjoying spending time with them and pursuing my passions, unencumbered by the strictures of paid work. Within the voluntary sector, I continue to support the growth and development of others.Memberships:Fellow of the Chartered Management InstituteFellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management

The inability of our academic partner (Kings College London) to provide the academic leadership resources resulted in Amanda being seconded to help. Rising to the challenge, she single-handed, designed the leadership training requirement, drafted training objectives and provided the academic resources and guidance to support a Masters level course.
