My name is Amanda Jackson. I am a social worker by trade, with a passion to equip, empower, and support those around me to be the best version of themselves. I see the importance of team development and team collaboration and am intentional about promotingunity when working alongside colleagues. Other interests include professional and leadership development, mentoring adolescents and young adults, teaching others, advocacy, planningand participating in community outreach events, serving at my local church, and worshiping God through singing and dance! Throughout my years involved in ministry and within the social work field, I have gained experience in serving and advocating for this population on micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Some of this experience includes leading and organizing local and international outreach events and trips that provided the opportunity to serve some of the most vulnerable populations in various nations and local communities. Through community outreach I also had the opportunity to raise awareness of the resources available to communities. I have learned the importance of collaborating and connecting with community stakeholders to receive resources that can benefit children and families in need county-wide. I have had the opportunity to oversee the operations of a non- profit program within the Polk County Public School system which provides tangible resources to students and families in need throughout Polk County, Florida. Moreover, serving as a school social worker has provided the opportunity to provide clinical individual and group work with children and adolescents as a way to equip them with applicable tools for daily life. Experience in ministry and as an adjunct professor has provided me the space to mentor and support young adults experiencing life transitions. Something that marks me as an individual is my passion for the arts. I have had a passion for the performing arts ever since I could remember. Whether it was dancing, singing, acting, or writing I have realized that art has the power to heal, create individuality, and transcend language in a way in which mere words cannot. I currently serve on the worship team at my local church, write and produce music with my husband, manage young artists, and teach dance. I have learned that my identity as a creative artist does not exist isolated from my identity as a professional in the social work profession. I have learned that the two parts of who I am can and should be reconciled together in order to impact the lives of the next generation.
