As a crew member, every day I have the opportunity to create phenomenal customer service experiences. I frequently excelled at servicing customers by suggesting new products, offering quick solutions, and having a genuine desire to make the customer walk away with a smile and "Wow, I love Trader Joe's" on their lips. When 3 of our full-time sign artists left the company I saw an opportunity to become a valuable utility crew member. As a sign artist I worked in a small and agile team environment to provide beautiful and accurate signage for the storefront on a daily basis. As a utility crew member, I have learned how to be a resourceful problem solver ready to contribute to the team.

I worked as a lab technician on the Eocene Hyperthermals project in the Eastern Geology and Paleoclimate Science Center. I had always imagined myself working as a scientist making real contributions to the world through detailed research and testing. At the US Geological Survey I sampled cores and process sediment samples for microscopic analysis. The detailed processing steps include washing sediment samples to clean and concentrate foraminifera, splitting and vialing clean samples, and transferring microfossils to micropaleontologic slides. In addition to processing samples, I performed microscope and computer work to include identifying Paleocene and Eocene species, picking key species for stable isotopic and/or elemental ratio analysis, and entering and manipulating assemblage data into the USGS database.

I completed online aerospace science coursework and was accepted into a weeklong academy at NASA Langley Research center. During the academy, a group of students and I planned a mission to Mars and presented to a panel of NASA employees.I was a member of the strategic communications team where we were responsible for communicating our mission to the public sphere. Duties included creating a website and writing content, conducting interviews, researching and reaching out to politicians, and creating a 3D animation.
