About Amanda Lyons
I have worked with People who Stutter (PWS) since starting at the Mater Adult Hospital in 1980.I am passionate about working with PWS across the age range.My own son developed a stutter at a young age - it did resolve with intervention - and I feel I have some understanding of the issues that parents may face at such a time. In recent years (now that my family is grown up) I have been able to further increase my skills and knowledge of how best to assist those who stutter. I am proud to say that I have twice attended training at The Michael Palin Centre in London. As well, I have attended two conferences on stuttering (2013, 2014) which were so informative with regard to treatment practices and issues around stuttering in the northern hemisphere. I have recently joined a Toastmasters' International Club and am working to improve my own skills with regard to speaking with confidence.
