The specialties I work with as a bedside travel nurse are burns, plastics, and ENT. I am familiar with COVID and SICU patient populations as well. I am competent in using the EPIC charting system and a wide variety of ICU equipment. I have worked directly with adult-patient populations and observed the treatment of pediatric patients. I am familiar with pain protocols for significant dressing changes, wound care for a variety of different types of wounds, free-flap and rotational-flap care, road rash, inhalation injuries, escharotomies and fasciotomies. I am familiar with burn-specific procedures such as autografting, allografting, and xenografting as well as the types of surgical dressings associated with them. The patient’s TBSA I typically work with ranges from 15-50%, however, I have also cared for patients with a higher, typically terminal TBSA. Topical medications I have used include Sulfamylon, Silver Silvadene, Bacitracin, Polysporin, Santyl, and glucan. Other dressings I have used or have had exposure to include Xeroform, Adaptic, Vericel, and Nexobrid.
