My professional experience includes working at an in-patient residential treatment center, prevention specialist, and counseling military service men and women including partners and children at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS. After having children (currently (9) and (7)), I decided to branch into higher education with a position as an Academic Coach for adult learners at Friends University. At Friends, I was able to adjunct teach Introduction to Counseling and Abnormal Psychology and fell in love with the privilege of being able to be a part of molding our future and would love future opportunities to continue to teach. With the development of a new college in Wichita, I found an opportunity to combine both my education in counseling services and developed skills in building higher education programs and processes and obtained a position at Kansas Health Science Center/Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine as a Counseling Specialist. In this position, I have been able to develop the counseling and wellness program since the beginning of the school starting their first academic school year in 2022. I am excited to start the Ph.D. in Business Psychology: Consulting program May 2024. It is with years of consideration in what Ph.D. specialization I wanted to pursue that I have found passion in the area of Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Leadership. As a counselor within institutional agencies, I am available to support individuals within their workplace and contribute to sustaining their wellbeing. However, I feel limited in producing systemic change within the institution that would help due to my lack of authority. I desire to understand more about business strategies and how to bridge productivity needs with employee wellness in order to advance my position and influence change.
