Amanda is a partner based in J A Kemp’s Oxford office and one of the focuses of her practice is working with start-up companies in the Oxford area and beyond to assist them in developing their IP. Amanda’s work focuses on the pharmaceutical and medtech sectors, including medical sensors and other medical equipment, but she also has experience in a broad range of chemical technologies including polymers, alloys and glasses. Amanda is known for her pragmatic approach to IP strategy and portfolio management. Managing Intellectual Property comments that her clients recommend her as “she understands our needs and finds practical and strategic solutions to problems.” She has also gained extensive experience in assisting clients in freedom to operate investigations and due diligence projects, both for those looking to invest in a new technology, and those seeking investment. As well as clients based in more locally, Amanda has a significant client base in China and consequently she visits China at least once a year.A second focus of Amanda’s work is representing clients at opposition before the European Patent Office, where she has acted in a number of high profile opposition cases. Amanda's experience extends to the defence of a number of pharmaceutical patents including those for sofosbuvir, Mozobil and eculizumab. She also has extensive experience in handling oppositions in blood coagulation therapies, dialysis, wound healing devices and materials.Amanda joined J A Kemp in 1998 and became a partner in 2008.
