I was a team leader and/or team leader coordinator at their Super Summer youth camp in Illinois hosted at Greenville College/ HLGU. I was in charge of team leaders within my age group and a small group of girls for the entire week of camp! Taking them from place to place, leading small group, and helping lead games and activities for the camp. I am returning in June to volunteer again!

I volunteer at First Baptist Church O’Fallon for various events. I have been a small group leader for Discipleship Now events for two years! At this event, I was in charge of 10-15 7th grade girls for 3 days. I would lead bible studies and group discussions, as well as be the transportation to and from the church to our host home. Another event that I have been a part of here for 6 years is Vacation Bible School. I have volunteered in the classroom, arts and crafts, and recreation areas of this week long event. In the classroom, I would lead bible studies and supervise the kids while they participated in recreation time, craft time, snack time, and during the worship service. While volunteering for the arts and crafts area of VBS, I would be in charge of leading and demonstrating a craft to the children each day of the week and then walking around to help them complete it. When I was volunteering for the recreation area, I would be in charge of choosing what activity for the children to play each day of the week and then demonstrating and participating in that activity. In addition, I have volunteered in the church nursery for 8 years. Working in the nursery, a few other adults and myself would be in charge of 15 children for 2 hours every Sunday morning. We would lead them in a bible study, feed them snack, and play with them until their parents came to pick them up.

I am a part of the Food and Beverage department here. I greet residents, take their dinner order and then bring the food to their table. We are taught how to set table with proper etiquette and speak with the residents on a first name basis. I have the privilege to have one on one interaction with the residents daily! The opportunity to connect with them on a personal level in conversation creates a wonderful environment to be a part of. Within the time that I have worked here, I have also served for various events such as the Father’s Day Brunch and Memorial Day Celebration. I have helped decorate various areas around our entire property at Friendship Village for these events as well!
