I am a board-certified (APC) Humanist pediatric chaplain at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. A North Carolinian at heart, I trained at Duke University Medical Center with the Pediatric Quality of Life team caring for pediatric palliative care patients.I have cared for pediatric patients in intensive care units and in Hematology/Oncology at Vanderbilt Children’s over the past 6 years. I seek to honor the natural spiritual expression of children in play-based, child-centered care.I am committed to research within the field of pediatric chaplaincy and currently serve as Co-Convener for Transforming Chaplaincy's Pediatric Spiritual Care Research Network and as a member of AAHPM’s Pediatric State of the Science committee while engaging in research and writing for publication. As an advocate for nurturing the spirituality of pediatric palliative care patients, I am also a member of the NCHPC Pediatric Palliative Care Division. I serve the broader international pediatric chaplaincy community on the Pediatric Chaplains Network Advisory Council.
