Transforming Chaplaincy's mission is to promote evidence-based spiritual care and integrate research into professional practice and education by fostering a culture of inquiry. We envision a future when chaplaincy is formed, informed, and transformed by evidence-based practice. By integrating contemporary scholarship, chaplains can provide better care, educators can prepare chaplains to be more effective in their work, and healthcare administrators can drive effective institutional change. Advancing research to improve spiritual care Transforming Chaplaincy facilitates the following nine research networks that bring together nearly 2,000 members seeking to advance spiritual care in the following broad areas: Chaplaincy Functions Chronic Illness/Disease Outpatient Hospice and Palliative Spiritual Care Pediatrics PTSD, Moral Injury and Spiritual Distress Spiritual Care Management Elder Care Psychedelic Care Providing top-notch training for new and tenured chaplains An evidence-based approach to care requires adequate training. Transforming Chaplaincy offers specialized training programs, including the following: A certificate program in Spiritual Care Management and Leadership that prepares current and future spiritual care managers to lead dynamic and effective spiritual care programs in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. Online courses on research literacy for chaplains and CPE students An in-person Chaplaincy Research Summer Institute to help chaplains develop research literacy, become familiar with chaplaincy research, and network with other colleagues engaged in research.
