I'm a writer and editor first and foremost, but my love of written words and communications led me to become a content strategist, a leader, and a team player. I'm a doer: I want to get things done, and in the most efficient and effective way. Here’s a quick run down of my varied experience:~Editorial: I’ve written and/or edited anything from short news aggregation pieces to reported journalism and short- and long-form research publications. I focus on effective, clear, and accurate language.~Staff operations: I have extensive experience interviewing, managing, and training/cultivating staff members. I’ve been a manager for more than 10 years, directly responsible for the performance and output of 20 writers and editors over the years. About half of my direct reports were promoted in the time I managed them.~Business operations: I oversaw a custom publishing business and subscription news publication, with responsibility for sustaining and growing the business. I worked with account managers to implement inbound and outbound marketing campaigns and improve branding. For publishing clients, I ensured quality output and created new products to serve growing and changing audiences. ~Content strategy: I’ve spent a lot of time working to understand unique audiences and what content and messaging works best for whom. I know how to analyze success and failure and transform that into more effective and efficient content and products.
