My work experience and interests cover a broad spectrum of industries and subjects, which at first may seem unrelated and random, but in retrospect contribute to a unique and useful skill set which enables me to translate fundamental business practices and knowledge in a way that creative-minded entrepreneurs can relate to and ultimately adopt.The first 15 years of my career, was spent in the creative sector, as florist/floral designer in London. during which time I started my own business, learning first-hand the skills and knowledge necessary to launch and sustain a profitable business. My first retail flower shop afforded many opportunities for business growth including the launch of a second self sustaining shop as well as a Floristry Design School and a significant delivery service – a sale-able asset which afforded me the means to return to South Africa permanently. Almost immediately, I began a position with the V&A Waterfront property management company, specifically in the Small Business department - a unique incubator that assists the growth of viable craft and art enterprise. This was a challenging, but highly rewarding role that exposed first-hand the difficulties faced by creative people in business, and my ability to help address them because of my own experiences. The V&A has a diverse and unique portfolio of assets and I gained a broad knowledge in all areas (and qualified for my Certificate in Shopping Centre Management) but am still drawn to the SMME sector so I began to focus on services that could be of value such as online marketing & PR.
