CurrentWhen state laws in California, Connecticut and Rhode Island required the mattress industry to create and manage statewide mattress recycling programs, the Mattress Recycling Council (MRC) was founded. MRC named their recycling program Bye Bye Mattress. I'm responsible for both the MRC and Bye Bye Mattress brands which involve directing consumer outreach and education and guiding industry communications. This involves telling the story of the program's benefits and accomplishments, but also explaining the state laws, the recycling fee, what it is used for, how mattresses are recycled and where to recycle them. I work directly with executive leadership, providing them advice and counsel on public relations and crisis communication issues, and communicate with the board of directors.
