I have worked on several projects, including: 1) behavior change interventions and latrine use, 2) water point functionality. I searched for relevant literature to identify behavior change interventions and behavior theory in latrine usage. On the water point project I completed a systematic review search of peer-reviewed articles to identify relevant literature reporting on water point failures and sustained functionality. I've also written a bulletin on water treatment systems research for WASH donors and done some text and graphics formatting for web publishing. My current work is on an infection prevention control project, for which I have been conducting data cleaning and Chi-square analysis in SAS and now I'm creating tables for a manuscript.

I worked in Dr. Sonia Altizer's lab at The University of Georgia and assisted on two projects: experimental research on monarch butterfly reproductive function and a primate disease database project compiling parasites and diseases found to affect non-human primates. Monarch experimental research included butterfly husbandry, greenhouse maintenance, lab instrument maintenance, and immune assay procedures including extracting hemolymph samples, and measuring phenoloxidase activity using a spectrophotometer. Primate database work involved compiling and archiving scientific articles related to parasitic infections, to update the Global Mammal Parasite Database.

My responsibilities included conducting literature searches for research pertaining to refugee women and programs addressing their needs in Western Europe. I also formatted and corrected citations in Chicago style, as well as edited the professor's scholarly articles for journal submissions.

My main duties consisted of filing, mail sorting, maintaining correspondence files, answering phones and taking messages, making requisitions, sending thank you and condolence letters. and giving directions to guests.

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International- Zoo Atlanta

My internship focused on inputting a backlog of behavioral data collected on mountain gorillas in Rwanda. I read through the scanned reports and field notes and input behavioral and demographic data, and miscellaneous information into an excel spreadsheet which is part of the Fossey behavioral database.

I interned in Dr. Wilson’s lab in the department of Developmental and Cognitive Neuroscience. The lab studies social status and how it affects the behavioral and metabolic health in females using rhesus monkeys as a research model. I was trained to support the research technicians in data collection, lab maintenance, sample processing and storage, and animal handling.
