EPILEPSY FOUNDATION TEXAS leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. This is accomplished by providing various programs and services including clinics offering medical consult and diagnostic testing for people living with epilepsy, week-long specialized summer camps, and epilepsy education initiatives.

As Development Manager, I assisted in the implementation of HELPS' annual development plan which incorporated foundation and corporate grant proposals, direct mail & social media marketing appeals, special events, and website development and maintenance. I was also involved in the planning, budgeting, volunteer recruitment, and overall execution of 11 annual medical teams and 12 construction teams. Direct results of this work included the formation of new mission teams which alone served 1,000 rural Guatemalans and increased the volunteer base by ≈150 people. HELPS received special mention for a specific grant I wrote on behalf of Dillon Gage Inc. for The U.S. Chamber of Commerce resulting in a company nomination as “Best International Ambassador” due to charitable work with HELPS International. I chaired annual fundraising events each year which raised ≈ $300,000. I was an integral part of an awareness campaign to showcase the importance of clean cooking in third world countries. This resulted in a new partnership between HELPS and the United Nation Foundation’s Global Alliance for Clean Cooking which recognizes HELPS as a leading champion in the fight to eradicate unsafe cooking methods in rural villages. I led an event at a Senator’s home in D.C. introducing HELPS’ programs to government leaders/individuals/businesses. As a result, HELPS gained a larger support base and received financial contributions and ongoing program support from government officials.
