I currently teach Geometry and Algebra 2. At the end of last school year I chose to take on the roll of being a Geometry Course Captain. This role has allowed me to not only work, and collaborate at a building level, but to also work at the district level to help with the alignment of curriculum across the district as well as implement standards referenced grading. This year, another Algebra 2 teacher and I have teamed up to pilot a co-teaching model to help address the needs of students in varying stages of proficiency as well as collaborate on new, evidence based teaching methods (such as fostering collaborative and exploratory learning). It has also been a great opportunity to learn new teaching methods and approaches to teaching strategies.

I taught Algebra II and Algebra I my last two years at JCCHS. Last school year I taught Advanced Algebra and Pre-Calculus. Content is based on and taught to meet the Common Core Georgia State Standards. All three years I co-taught certain sections of Advanced Algebra and Algebra II which enabled me to ensure that I was accommodating and differentiating to meet the needs of students of various levels.

I taught Algebra 2 and IB Math Studies. Content is based on and taught to meet the Common Core State Standards. Content is constantly scaffolded and differentiated to best meet the needs of my various learners.

I taught high school geometry in the Summer Scholars program. Summer Scholars is a credit recovery program that is broken up in to two three week sessions where students can earn 0.5 credits per session; the first session covered all first semester geometry content and the second session will cover all second semester geometry content. Content is based on and taught to meet the Common Core State Standards. Since classes lasted 3.75 hours the first session and will last 3 hours the second session, I create lessons that are interactive and fast past to keep students engaged for extended periods of time while still instilling a sense of rigor and meeting standards.

I scaffolded and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners by creating and implementing a variety of lessons and activities. I also collaborated with teaching teams to fulfill proficiency based assessment expectations that aligned with Common Core State Standards.

I created and taught lessons using SMART Board technology.I also successfully implemented a new form of guided double-entry-diary (DED) note-taking. For the guided DED, students were provided with a handout that I created that was divided into two columns: the left hand column consisted of statements where students had to fill in the blanks (i.e. If a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, then its opposite sides are ________); the right hand column was used as an example area where students were instructed to draw and mark the quadrilateral appropriately.

I met customer expectations for service and product needs. I also investigated and resolved all customer concerns with products, before and after purchase.

I facilitated student understanding in challenging mathematical concepts, including algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, and abstract mathematics. I also conducted one-on-one and small group tutor sessions, managing several students of various skills and educational levels (pre-college to 400-level).

I assisted university students in research-based questions; developed proficiency in the use of electronic databases. I was also responsible for supervising and training new student workers.
