As a BUILD.org Fellow, I serve on the Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) a unique opportunity to co-inform, co-design, and co-lead initiatives for the Gates Foundation. Over the past year, I have met with several organizations, educators, and other education partners to offer my insight as a first-generation, low-income, young student of color. We strategize and discuss an array of topics ranging from topics on how to implement more diversity in chemistry curriculum, how to ethically useAI in the classroom, UX design for educational softwares, and what educators should know about us outside of school to better support our educational and personal goals.

I was a Mayoral Appointee for the San Francisco Youth Commission at City Hall. The Commission is 17 young people from 13-23 who are in positions to advocate, empower and liberate not only our appointed districts but the entire young people community in San Francisco. As the representative of the entire city, I met with my supervisors and attend a number of community events and meeting as much as I can to get a better understanding of the people's needs in San Francisco. We held bi-weekly meetings in order to discuss issues, listen to community organizations and hear the public's concerns. I wrote legislation and motions for not only the Board of Supervisors to hear and take into account, but for all members of the public.

Along with being apart of the Youth Commission, I was a member of the subcommittee for Trans-Formative Justice. This group has historically done tremendous work such as having input into the closure of the juvenile hall and teaching communities about their rights as young people, immigrants etc., We held bi-weekly meeting to get a better understanding of how we can reshape the criminal justice system both locally and nationally.

I worked as the policy and advocacy intern working alongside community organizations and community members that work specifically with undocumented students and young people to understand their needs and the way Stupski can best support them. At the end of my internship, I made a presentation of my findings and recommendations for financially supporting these organizations.

I was an intern at the Human Rights Commission to learn about and bring awareness to human trafficking, both in a local and national scale. I was taught skills around how to be able to spot the signs of victims, how to give advice and resources to those who are trafficked, and some of the root causes of the issues. In the course of over a month, I was able to understand the many forms human trafficking may take, the complexities and systems that disable or enable this crime and how we as people can use our power and voices to stop human trafficking. Our end goal was to designs items that both brought awareness and sparked curiosity in others to open up about these types of conversations. At the end of the program, we had a summit to showcase to over 200+ of our peers.

I was apart of the Youth Steering Committee, where I was a representative of my school amongst 14 other youth across the San Francisco United School District (SFUSD) to be able to represent the views and concerns for our peers. Every year since 1999, UCSF would hold an event to discuss the public health concern of that year specifically focused girls, trans and non binary youth. I conducted a community based assessment and found that an overwhelmed number of young people said unhealthy relationships are negatively impacting them and their communities' wellbeing. I coordinated workshops, reached out to youth, strengthened my communication skills, and collaborated with a diverse group of young people to offer support and community for young girls and trans youth.
