I joined Southwest as a Document Control Administrator, challenged with making their systems paperless and organizing and controlling a vast variety of documents. During my time there, I:• Learned SharePoint administration to create and manage an entire SharePoint channel, working with all departments and employees to create an effective (and efficient) cloud environment - and company Intranet• Migrated an entire file server and most business processes into the cloud• Designed and implemented an archiving procedure to allow paper documents to be stored and retrieved safely and easily• Sourced and successfully implemented a new information management system for the construction side of the business (Procore)• Undertook a large program of document management training for all staff• Managed all incoming and outgoing information relating to the planning and design of large construction projects• Was awarded the annual company Lightbulb Award "for new processes or innovative solutions", not once but twice!

When Aecon was looking for a project coordinator to move to PEI for 6 months to help with the construction of a new Target, I was keen to accept the adventure. During my time there I:• Provided administrative and technical support to the operations team on the challenging and fast-paced Target refit.• Liaised with suppliers to coordinate delivery of all the right items at the right time – a big challenge on a Target project.• Implemented and enforced Aecon’s corporate health & safety program.• Ensured LEED certification requirements were maintained on site and that correct paperwork was submitted for accreditation.• Conducted all morning orientations for new contractors joining site

When I joined DORA as a construction administrator, my project manager soon realized that my experience in construction gave me the skillset needed to help with project coordination. While still taking care of basic administration of the projects, I also began to coordinate some of their more technical aspects. During my time there I:• Set up and maintained project document control systems, using a Sage Timberline database• Defined scopes and prepared subcontracts, managing subcontractors• Coordinated the submittals and approvals process• Tracked and communicated change requests and change orders• Managed deficiency close-out and project closeout documentation

I joined ISG on a short-term working/holiday visa as a document controller for the construction of a new Royal Bank of Scotland office building in the City of London. My success in that role led them to offer me a permanent position and ultimately to sponsor me to stay. In the application for my work permit, they said my "skills in process management and systems (were) needed to assist in the development of the document control role and procedures." I am very proud of all the accomplishments I had during my 10 years with them, such as:• Designed, implemented, administrated and managed document and deficiency management systems on small and large construction projects• Facilitated project kick-off meetings with management and client teams• Wrote user documentation and delivered training to all internal staff, sub-contractors, consultants, and clients• Worked with IT providers to improve our systems in line with business needs• Created and mentored a network of document controllers
