As a senior data scientist, I help manage our team of data scientists, assigning and supervising team members on technical tasks. I lead proposal teams in pursuit of federal and state contracts and grants, and act as project director on multiple research projects. I work with clients to identify the correct analytic solution, dataset, or software for their needs, and lead the development of custom software. Much of my direct work involves using data visualization tools like ArcGIS and Tableau to make data insights available for clients, identifying and analyzing public data sources that provide additional information to guide decisions, and using natural language processing techniques to analyze text data. My project work spans workforce development, such as projecting skill demand in the labor market, postsecondary and K-12 education, including helping higher ed institutions use labor market information to refine curricula, and health communications, such as examining the most prevalent topics discussed in client-relevant conversations on social media.
