Fueled by a passion for biology, research, and an insatiable desire to learn, I am pursuing my HBSc at the University of Toronto, majoring in Human Biology with a double minor in Psychology and Environmental Biology. My overarching goal is to enhance the quality of life for others and contribute to making the world a better place.Growing up in an immigrant household, the importance of education was always emphasized. My studies have made these values evident, seeing the skills and opportunities it has led to. Beyond foundational biological concepts, I have had opportunities to participate in class laboratories working with gene expression, cell viability, using BIOPAC programs, and more. Additionally, coursework in statistics, R coding, and bioethics in medicine/ research has broadened my skills and perspectives. Lastly, my education has taught me adaptability, dedication, the ability to work under pressure, reliability in meeting deadlines, and teamwork.Work and volunteer experiences have also been instrumental in my growth. As an Urban Forester with the LBNA and Neighbourwoods, I was able to collect data on ArcGIS and engage with the community at public events. Being a field research assistant with the U of T Trash Team cemented my confidence in data collection giving me the opportunity to lead cleanups, run booths at environmental initiatives, and co-author a policy brief. I have immense gratitude for the wealth of knowledge gained through hands-on engagement and recognize the pivotal role it plays in my journey.My lifelong love of learning has been instrumental in shaping me. Immersing myself in documentaries and studying chess sparked my interest in science and problem-solving. Competitive swimming; playing the piano, violin and guitar; and exploring new hobbies like archery and coffee-making, have all shaped me to be disciplined, creative and adaptable.Looking forward, I am excited for a lifetime of learning as I strive to make an impact on the world.
