I grade both lecture assignments and laboratory quizzes for General Chemistry. I also grade laboratory reports for both molecular biology and microbiology. It was also my responsibility to culture and grow multiple different bacterial colonies for laboratory examination and use by microbiology students.

I worked as a research technician in the last two years of a four-year project funded by the Indiana Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program. The purpose of the project was to study the redside dace (Clinostomus elongatus), an endangered minnow that can only be found in two locations in Indiana. In March of 2011 I helped in the collection and movement of approximately 250 redside dace from Mill Creek to Asher Creek, both being second order streams in Wabash County. I assisted in the culturing of redside dace in the laboratory and mointoring larval development. During the remainder of the project I assisted in sporadic surveys of the streams to assess the health and reproductive success of the augmented population. Dorsal fin rays were removed from some redside dace that were collected during stream sampling and used to assess age through cross-sectional cutting. Over both summers it was also my responsibility to conduct genetic testing with the use of microsatellite DNA markers. This laboratory work was done at the Pritzker Lab in The Field Museum located in Chicago, IL and was designed to determine if the two seperate populations of redside dace in Indiana were related. Much time was spent analyzing the data and writing scientific papers over larval development, culturing, and genetic testing.
