From the first time I learned about the role of respiratory therapists in the NICU I knew that was the job for me. I worked with my instructors to ensure I was able to complete my clinical experience at the hospital with the best NICU in my area. Saint Joseph Hospital gave me the foundation and training for my career goal. During my 9 years as a therapist there I became proficient in providing level 3 care while participating in research for oxygen needs in premature infants at high altitude. When I moved back to Alabama in 2015 I began work at DCH Medical Center and started the journey to complete a bachelor's degree in Public Health at The University of Alabama. As an RT I feel I can bring a great deal of specialized knowledge to the field of public health and hope to contribute to initiatives for the improvement of neonatal and newborn care.
