Provides exceptional, life-saving care to up to 25 patients daily in a 46-bed emergency department. Carries patient load of 3-5 children at a time. ♦︎ Triages and assigns emergency severity index (ESI) acuity to patients based on severity of illness/injury♦︎ Calculates and administers a wide range of pediatric-dosed medications including specialty drugs such as epinephrine, norepinephrine, solumedrol, ketamine, Keppra, fosphenytoin, immunoglobulin vaccines, albuterol, and intubation medication combinations♦︎ Monitors patients during procedural sedation for bone reduction/casting, bedside EGD, laceration repair, and varying imaging exams♦︎ Performs assigned role as documentation RN or bedside RN during care of high-acuity trauma patients♦︎ Educates patients and families on medication administration, discharge home care, follow-up plan, and when to return to the emergency room♦︎ Precepts nurse interns, new-hires, and new graduate nurses♦︎ Covers charge nurse breaks♦︎ Chair of the Falls Committee♦︎ Previous committee involvement with the Bereavement Council and Trauma Committee
