I have been working in the environmental and public health non-profit sector for 12 years. My passion is environmental issues and justice. I grew up living on the Connecticut coast of Long Island Sound enjoying the ocean, swimming, shellfish and sea glass foraging, and fishing with my father. I quickly grew to understand environmental degradation from pollution, the health impacts, and the effects of climate change, and I knew that my life's work would be protecting our environment. I started my environmental journey canvassing in Connecticut to pass laws on a variety of issues. I've helped to organize residents in passing the first plastic bag ban east of the Mississippi in Westport, CT, organizing in NY to ban fracking, and banning the use of fracking waste water on public roadways in both NY and CT among many other policy victories in CT, MA and RI. I love talking about the issues surrounding environmental policy and helping win real, tangible, transformative campaigns across New England.My love of the ocean drew me to Rhode Island 10 years ago, where I have continued to work on policy and became the Providence Canvass Director for Clean Water Action for 7 years. Taking over a field canvass office allowed me to inspire future environmental leaders and advocates in gaining on the ground experience and making democracy work for all. I have also been privileged to travel across the country enabling me to learn a multitude of different state issues and legislatures. For the past year I have transitioned into direct work to reduce single-use disposable food-ware with restaurants for dine-in and take-out, schools, emergency food providers, and event spaces. Providing technical assistance, grant writing, budget management, and community outreach I am grateful to be able to make immediate positive changes away from the single-use throw-away behavior ingrained in our country. Outside of my dedication to the environment I enjoy outdoor activities like snowboarding, kayaking, and hiking around New England. I love to travel and want to explore as much as possible. I enjoy making art and immensely enjoy growing organic food and making new recipes. My home and office are filled with plants and I feel that if I were not so politically driven I would have gone into horticulture and botany. All of my passions lead back to protecting the environment and so it is ultimately something I cannot pull myself away from. I have a breadth of knowledge in this field including financial, policy, elections, staff management, community outreach, and recruitment.
